New Efficient Coating for Air Conditioning Piping

K’2013 Solvay Engineering Plastics have been showing their new efficient fluid barrier which is a material to be used in air conditioning systems. It will be used as a coating to protect aluminium piping which according to Technyl eXten can provide cost benefits as well as ecological benefits to replace the current copper.

David Kim is the CEO and GMS Korea and he has said, “Aluminium has a better surface-to-weight ratio, melts at lower temperatures and is far less expensive than copper. Consequently, we were seeking a coating material to support our initiative for replacing copper by aluminium without trading off these benefits and compromising the high surface quality expected by our customers.

“The Technyl eXten material from Solcay exhibits excellent flowability and metal adhesion. This and its high chemical, UV and temperature resistance coupled with low humidity absorption ensure the long-term corrosion protection required by our products. Moreover, the polymer used to Technyl eXten is partially bio-sourced, helping us to lower our environmental footprint in comparison to the use of more conventional, fully petrochemical-based PA 12.”

The new coating with the exact name Technyl eXten D 236AL will be made in Asia but will be available throughout the world. The new material is expected to help speed up the adoption of aluminium in areas such as heat exchangers, refrigeration and cooling pipes.

In other news WR Refrigeration are facing some considerable debts. Eddie Williams has said, “We are looking at total debts at around the £60 million mark.

“We have a number of staff helping with the winding down of the business, and a handful of others who has moved to honour the contracts of other companies, but I envisage no more significant sales.”

The business has been purchased by Integral UK and it will be their first experience in the refrigeration industry.

Make sure that your air conditioning unit is in full working order ready for next summer. You can get a maintenance check before the year draws to a close then if it turns out you need a new unit you can prepare for an installation next year. You don’t want to be caught out when you come to turn on your air conditioning next summer and it not to work.
