The exclusive agent for Gree air-conditioners, Al-Asasyah Company, in Saudi Arabia has now been announced as the leading company in air conditioning globally.
Its current market share in Saudi Arabia is now said to be around 20 percent and is seen to have made huge progress over the last 7 years. This progress is due to the owners of the Gree air-conditioners factory, Gree Electric Appliances Inc. of Zhuhai in China.
The factory was founded in 1991; however production didn’t start till 1996. The company was also started without a name and had an annual production of less than 20,000 units a year.
According to industrial analysts and researchers, the factory is said to be unmatched in industrial experience. The production level has now reached one third of the global air conditioners production. This was estimated in 2010 at 90 million units.
Although it produces ones third of the worlds units it currently has the capacity to produce over half at around 45.5 million units a year.
The factory includes 300 research and development labs, 3800 workers, engineers and technicians and holds more than 3500 patents.
The factory produces 7000 different kinds of units which range from window air conditioners to chillers. They provide all types of air conditioning units for all types of related issues.
Other than air conditioning units they also supply, electric fans, water dispensers, heaters, rice cookers, air purifiers and much more.
Hasn’t it been a glorious month! The weather has been beautiful all over the UK and we’ve experienced one of the hottest March’s on record. So here at GT Refrigeration we thought it would be a great time to look at the hottest temperatures ever recorded in the UK. So why not check out our infographic below:
We can see that the hottest temperatures recorded are all located in South, (lucky for us). Although this March we didn’t beat any temperature records (except in Scotland) the air con has definitely been on in our office all week.
We can also see that for ¼ of the year we need to have air conditioning, especially if you still want your staff to come to work even during the summer time!
If this month is anything to go by, we think that we are going to be seeing many more hotter days year on year, let us know what you think. Do you think you will be switching your air con on much earlier on in the year?
Powrmatic Ltd, heating and ventilation specialists are launching a range of high wall splits, cassettes, ceiling floor and multi splits from Midea Air Conditioning next month in the UK.
Paul Greenough will lead their sales team as he has many years of experience selling domestic and commercial air conditioning equipment. He has worked closely with Midea since 1999.
Midea had a group income of over $20 billion and is now recognized as global giants. Considering the economic downturn it is always a pleasure to hear good news.
Phil Brompton, the Managing Director of Powrmatic Ltd said “We are delighted to be partnering Midea in this exciting project of both our companies. The extensive range of Midea commercial air conditioning products will enhance our portfolio offering customers a high quality competitive alternative product.
We are confident that with this excellent product range and the experience Paul brings to us, Powrmatic will make a lasting impression on the UK air conditioning market place for years to come.”
The range is due to be launched next month at the ACR show which we have previously mentioned.
With the weather being so cold and wet at the moment, it may seem like an odd time to consider getting your air conditioning checked out. However, it may actually be the perfect time to start thinking about it, as if you take care of your air con units before there’s a problem, you will stand a much better chance of not only saving time and inconvenience, but also a great deal of money, as preventive care is always less more expensive than repair work.
Another good reason to have your air conditioning units checked out by a professional is because of the demand in the summer. The summer is when people realise that their air conditioning system isn’t working properly. In some cases, you may be stuck in a situation where all the repairmen are busy with emergency jobs and cannot come out to check yours out for a few hours or even days.
Get in contact with GT Refrigeration for maintenance on your air conditioning units, it will make your system more efficient which can save you money on air conditioning bills.
John Elfreth Watkins, an American civil engineer, wrote an article in the year 1990 making predictions about what the world would be like 100 years later and some of them, in fact, have actually come true.
The article was published by the relatively unknown engineer in an American women’s magazine, which was titled, “What May Happen in The Next Hundred Years”. Many of his predictions were accurate including, air conditioning, mobile phones and digital colour photography.
His visions and prediction for the future would seem almost unreachable at the start of the 20th century. Watkins anticipated ready meals, for the average life expectancy to rise to 50 years old and the innovation of television.
Although many households have digital thermostats, the visionary predicted the concept of air-con which would regulate the temperature of the house by turning on hot or cold air.
Not all of Watkin’s predictions and prophecies were correct though, as he thought that flies and mosquitoes would be exterminated, that there would be no more C, Q or X letters in the alphabet and that everybody will walk 10 miles a day.
This week, LG Electronics revealed their new lineup of air conditioners, targeting an increase in sales of more than 10% this year.
LG revealed about 40 air con models that feature a technology named the “Real 4-D” cooling system that according to LG officials, sends cool air out in four different directions.
LG spokesperson said that the new air conditioners have also amplified the number of turbo fans located within the air conditioner for enhanced performance and slimmed down the width of the product by up to 30%.
The installation of a power-saving super inverter decreases electricity prices by up to one third of what was paid with other models. The air conditioner can also be controlled by smart phone app, Whisen app 2.0.
President of the air conditioning and energy solution unit at LG Electronics, Nho Hwan-yong, said “We’ve grown more than 10 percent in global terms and we tend to reach a growth rate of over 10 percent in total sales in 2012 even though we know some advanced nations are expected to see a sluggish economy this year.”
LG officials also emphasised the air conditioners with their liquid-crystal display screen that shows management features as well as user selected photos.
LG officials added that it is also equipped with a lighting function which could add to the interior design for some customers. The prices will range for around £500 up to around £1,500 but are not yet available in the UK.
Nho said, “We plan to continue increasing our market share (in global markets) by developing models that are a match to that particular market,
“I can’t talk about the specific differences compared to our rival’s models but we expect to grow together by continuously competing with each other.”
2010 saw many huge wind power projects in the UK being completed and by mid-2011, the UK was ranked as the world’s 8th largest producer of wind power. Within the UK, wind power is the 2nd source of renewable energy after biomass and is expected to continue growing in the future.
A wind turbine has been installed by the St Eval Candle Company near its base in Wadebridge.
The 10kw Airconwine turbine measures 18 metres high and was installed at the end of November, at the company’s Great Engollan Farm premises.
The wind turbine, which was installed by company, Natural Generation, is believed to be the first of its kind that has been installed in the UK,
Mike Field, Natural Generation Managing Director, said, “This is the quietest most technologically advance MCS approved turbine in its class, we are very happy with the longevity of this turbine, which has been in operation on the continent since 2004.”
The wind turbine is part of a wider conservation plan, being put into place by the St Eval Candle Company.
Managing Director of St Eval Candle Company, said “We are delighted to see the wind turbine up and working so well,
“We are looking forward to continuing with the project with the next phase seeing tree planting and the restoration of the old Mill pond which dates back to the 17th Century.”
Reggie Love, who is President Barack Obama’s personal aide, basketball sparring partner and gatekeeper says he has one of the coolest jobs in the world, but it also has its downside – no air conditioning!
Love is a cross between a constant companion and personal valet, otherwise known as Obama’s ‘body man’, is due to leave his job later this year to attend business school.
Love said in an interview on ABC television, “The thing that used to kill me is that the guy loves to ride around with the AC off in the summertime.
“And I get hot. I start sweating. And I’m like, it’s 80 degrees in this car. I’m going to pass out.”
Obama was a senator when he first hired the 6’4 basketball star in 2006 and was known to keep his office the same temperature of his native country, Hawaii.
Love is always with the president when in the White House, at campaign events, on his Marine one helicopter or when travelling across the world in his Air Force One official aeroplane.
Since Obama’s run for the White House in 2008, the pair have flown 880,780 miles together.
US presidents are understood to carry very little in their pockets, if anything, so Love carries a bag with all the essentials in; dental products, collar stays and stain remover, that Obama uses without hesitation, in front of him.
Love says, “If he had it his way, I think he’d floss in private
“I think the fact that he was comfortable with me is probably a product of, you know, he’s beaten down. I’ve been around for so long.”
Before Obama got his iPad last year, a New York Times reporter asked him whether he had a popular Apple device, and his response was; “I have an iReggie, who has my books, my newspapers, my music all in one place.”
According to statistics kept by CBS News, since his January 2009 inauguration, Obama has been to 31 countries, a few more than once and 40 of the 50 US states, with Love by his side.
Love explained that he was grateful to be a “very long passenger on an amazing ride.”
He added that, “He’s [Obama] been like big brother to me, a mentor. I’ve learned so much about life from him.”
Despite the fears over extreme heat, the stadium air conditioning is in doubt for 2022 World Cup in Qatar.
The architect in charge of one of the venues, suggested that a more old-fashioned solution would be cheaper and better, despite after all the talk of using state of the art air conditioning to keep stadiums cool at the 2022 World Cup in Qatar.
Qatari organisers are trying to be persuaded, by leading firm Populous, which is designing the Sports City stadium in Doha, to scrap the idea of having air conditioning in at the venue.
John Barrow, Populous director, said that the system is “notoriously unsustainable” for the environment when used on a large scale and far too expensive.
Barrow said, “I think you can be more clever. It is about air movement, moisture in the air and it is about temperature at the right time of day,
“If we get it right … that is the way ahead,” he added.
The defining theme of Qatar’s winning bid last year was air-conditioned stadiums to beat 50C desert heat in June.
Populous was hired by Qatar to help its campaign because of their experience in building signature projects such as London’s 2012 Olympic Stadium, Arsenal’s Emirates arena and the new Yankee Stadium.
The FIFA inspection team was persuaded that the firm’s prototype of their stadium could succeed.
Barrow now believes, however, that the planned stadium can be kept cool by using traditional Arabic methods for ventilation and shading the seas,
The proposal is, is to have wind towers that suck up hot air to create fan-like movement inside the stadium, which has a capacity of 47,000.
Barrow said, “It is part of the building tradition in the Gulf to create wind towers which naturally ventilate. If you have got an air movement which keeps you cool like a fan that makes all the difference.”
FIFA was promised that its 12 World Cup stadiums could be regulated at around 26C, but now spectators could be kept cool at 30C, with low humidity during the evening.
He said, “It doesn’t need to be 26 degrees. Fan expectation needs to be a little more relaxed.”
Until the scheduled kickoff in June 2022, Qatar is likely to be challenged on heat issues. The organising committees have suggested switching to midwinter dates, but officials have said that there are no plans to change.
Asamoah Gyan, Ghana forward, who since September has played for United Arab Emirates club Al Ain on loan from Sunderland, predicted that the “climate for the World Cup is going to be really, really difficult.
“They are putting air conditioning in the stadiums and I think maybe it can help the football there because without that I don’t think people can survive because it’s really, really hot.”
Barrow said that Populous is “actively engaged” in talks with the Qatari government about its World Cup plan.
“They are strongly of the opinion that they need to build now so that they can demonstrate their commitment, but in fact they have got loads of time,” he said, suggesting that waiting could allow new technology to develop.
In one of our previous blog posts that we wrote a couple of weeks ago, we mentioned how much of a disappointing summer we’ve had and how it was now officially over. However, reports and predictions reveal that we now face one of the hottest autumns for 25 years.
The best weather has been predicted to grace us at the end of this week and around the beginning of October. However, the UK Met Office Chief Forecaster, Chris Tubbs, said “It’s too early to give precise detail, but the dominant signal is for much of the UK to get some fine weather from Tuesday onwards. Temperatures could be unseasonably warm in places, certainly well above the average for this time of year.”
He carries on to say that “The settled weather is set to last for several days and could carry on into the start of October, giving us a welcome respite from the windy and wet conditions which have dominated for the past few weeks”.
According to predictions by the UK Met Office, the south and east of England will see the best of the weather, where temperatures could reach 27C, hotter than Hawaii!
I’m sure that most people will be planning some daytrips or weekends away to the seaside or park, but it’s definitely not time to put the barbeque or air conditioning in south east London away just yet.
If you are planning on enjoying the sunshine, remember to protect yourself from the strong UV rays by avoiding the midday heat and covering up your skin with a high factor sun cream.
