Ductless Split Systems

AmericanFlag

Friedrich was founded in 1883 and they are based in San Antonio. They have been manufacturing air conditioning units since 1952 and they are still the only business to manufacture these units in North America.

Over the last few years there has been an increase in popularity of ductless spilt systems (DSS) in America. This is because it is a great way to cool sunrooms and extensions without the need of installing a central system which could be costly and time consuming. Continue reading

Air Conditioning and the Electricity Bill

GTR_Electricity

Money is still tight for many of us so saving money wherever we can is always a good thing. This is why we have come up with a few tips to make sure you get the most for your money from your air conditioning units.

The first thing you can do it make sure that it is regularly serviced. This will ensure that nothing is damaged and it is running efficiently. This may mean that after a period of time you may need to replace your unit if it becomes too old and always needs to be repaired. In the short term this can be expensive but in the long run it will save you money. As well as not keep having to pay for someone to repair your old unit, newer units are a lot more efficient. No Air Conditioning in Pakistan

GTR_PakistanFlag

It has been announced that Pakistan have said to their civil servants that they are no longer allowed to wear socks as they are turning off all air conditioning systems to try and deal with the serious power cuts they are experiencing. However there are soaring temperatures in Pakistan at the moment so with no air conditioning systems offices will be unbearable, although the country is facing blackouts of up to 20 hours a day in some areas. Air Conditioning in Your Vehicle

So the hot days in England are few and far between but when they are here they are often scorchers! The last thing any of us want to be getting in a car that doesn’t have air conditioning during these days. Luckily for us this is now a common feature in most vehicles but among many motorists the general consensus is that if the air conditioning is on then more fuel is being used. Of course this is true, if the air conditioning is on, it uses more fuel than having the windows open. However, this is only true up to about 40 miles per hour. When this speed is reached, the drag from the open windows actually uses more fuel. Continue reading

Air Conditioning vs Fans

Fan

With our brief taster of summer and hopefully the rest still to come many of us will switch our air conditioning units on in the office without even thinking twice. However, those who live in countries with a hotter climate year round are often faced with the potential costs of the systems and many end up asking the question if fans would be more efficient in terms of money. May Bank Holiday

For most of us in England, we only have the luxury of air conditioning at work rather than at home. So when it comes to sunny bank holiday weekends like the one it is predicted we will be experiencing this May, the ice creams and fans usually come out in full force.

It is expected that most of Britain will be able to enjoy a sunny early May bank holiday with temperatures possibly in the low 20’s. Those who are living in the south of Britain will probably have the best of the weather as Scotland and Northern Ireland are likely to have the odd patch of rain. Continue reading

Spring has Sprung!

Summer Time

We are happy to announce that we have had our air conditioning on for the last two days and we are hoping that this is a sign of better weather to come!

Spring finally sprung in April and we were all very happy to see for the warmer change, however, May is still set to be milder than usual although will generally by dry. So far this week we have had a little taste of what we hope is to come in the summer but unfortunately according to forecasters towards the end of the week it will become much cooler and even the chance of rain. What did we do before Air Conditioning?

Reeds

For the odd week that we are lucky enough to experience really hot weather in the UK, many of us find it too uncomfortable to be really warm during the summer time. Ironically enough we try and spend most of it trying to cool down by eating ice creams and putting the air conditioning on. Luckily for us, air conditioning was invented, as we know it, in 1902. So this week we have come up with a few techniques that people from the past used to use in order to shade themselves from the intense heat. Continue reading

Five Common Issues with your Air Conditioning

Summer

Who knows what is happening with the weather nowadays? April has so far bought us sunshine, snow and showers so that means being prepared for the summer is essential as no one knows when it is going to turn up. Having sweltering staff in your office is not the best recipe for success so making sure your air conditioning unit is working is essential for the “just in case.” Some of the main reasons that air conditioners don’t work is because they have been installed wrong, or aren’t well serviced or maintained. There are some issues that can be fixed by yourself and for others you will need to call a professional but we have listed the top five issues that could go wrong with your unit and what can be done to fix it. New Dreamliner with Advanced Air Conditioning

The Boeing 787 Dreamliner has become a technological milestone and is set to shape the way we fly. It had its first test flight on December 15th in Washington and the successful flight means the start of a brand new generation of air craft.

This aeroplane is the world’s first commercial aeroplane that was created from one piece of fuselage and composite materials. This in turn makes the aeroplane light and therefore fuel efficient although it is just as quick as the others on the market. With more and more of us focused on being eco friendly the Dreamliner was created with this in mind. The decrease in weight has meant that it will use 20% less fuel than a plane of a similar size, it also has lower emissions.

Not only this, but it has larger windows at eye level that don’t have the plastic cover. This is because the windows are designed to act in the same way that tinted windows do in cars. It is possible for the passenger to adjust the amount of light that is shining through the window.

This new plane can carry between 200 and 300 passengers and they will have a much more enjoyable experience than in other planes due to increased humidity which means passengers are less likely to suffer from airsickness and there are also increased levels of oxygen supplies. On top of this they have an air conditioning system which is very advanced meaning the air supplied is of a better quality. This is done by filters which remove bacteria viruses and fungi. All this combined will mean that there will be fewer aeroplane colds.

As well as a reduced risk of becoming ill there is also more storage space on board along with improved lighting. Those that designed the air craft also made sure they made the planes friendlier for those with disabilities. One example of this is that there is a partition between two toilet cubicles that can be removed in order to make one wheelchair accessible toilet.

So far worldwide 57 airlines have put in their orders which total to 876 Dreamliners and it is now the fast selling jetliner to date.
